The Hollywood Reporter brings us this article where they interviewed Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Lori Grimes, where she says:

I've said from the beginning, not only am I OK with Lori dying but I think she has to. I've played this character with an eye toward an end.

So she's apparently read way ahead into the story, and maybe we're going to see something happen with the upcoming season's introduction of The Governor and the prison setting.

The series returns on 14 October.
